Promoting LNG as a transport fuel

Govt. of India has come up with a draft LNG policy. The key aims and objectives of the policy is to-

  1. Frame an integrated approach towards procurement, storage, transportation and use of LNG, including its by-products such as boil offs

  2. Ensure equitable distribution and adequate availability of LNG for all technologically feasible sectors

  3. Promote increased use of LNG in various sectors including in transportation and mining sector

  4. Ensure stable, transparent and enabling framework for activities related to LNG

  5. Promotion of new technologies related to LNG

  6. Promotion of adoption of LNG for usage in green-field sectors i.e., where LNG is not being used in any manner currently
