Global Entry, a CBP Trusted Traveler Program, allows for expedited clearance of pre-approved, low-risk travelers. Indian citizens can begin applying for Global Entry through the US Custom and Border Protection website https://ttp.dhs.gov./ India becomes the 11th country overall whose citizens are eligible to enroll in Global Entry.

As part of the citizen-centric service, Embassy of India, Washington DC and Consulates General of India in Atlanta, Chicago, Houston, New York, and San Francisco accept GEP applications by Indian citizens residing in USA.

How to Apply for Global Entry:

Step 1

Indian citizens applying for GEP submit their application in the US Custom and Border Protection website https://ttp.dhs.gov./  

Step 2

After completion of step 1, applicants need to submit the requisite information through https://www. passportindia.gov.in/AppOnlineProject/online/gepOnlineApp  for completion of background verification in India.

Step 3 : Submission of application

After completion of step 2, the applicants under the jurisdiction of Consulate General of India, Houston should submit their physical application along with required documents listed below and fees by post to the  address: VFS Application Center,Suite 550, 1001 Texas Avenue, Houston TX 77002

Note : Background Verification of Indian citizens who have applied for the US CBP GEP program has been undertaken by the Government of India on behalf of the US Government's CBP Global Entry Program (GEP), in pursuance of a bilateral agreement. This is not a public service open to all the Indian citizens. Hence, there is no obligation on the part of the Government of India to furnish any information pertaining to the processing of this service to the GEP applicants or the general public, under sections 8(1)(a), (f) & (j) of the RTI Act, 2005.

Furthermore, since the background verification process involves multiple government departments in order to convey assurance to a foreign government about Indian citizens on security and other confidential aspects - the overall processing time may vary on a case-to-case basis as it involves a rigorous process of vetting. No firm timelines have been defined for the GEP vetting process.
