REGISTRATION OF MARRIAGES ALREADY SOLEMNIZED IN USA

  1. Conditions before applying for registration of marriage:

    (1)At least one of the prospective bride or bridegroom must be an Indian National and a legal resident within the jurisdiction of the Consulate.

    (2)If any one of prospective bride or bridegroom is not an Indian National, a No objection certificate from the concerned authority or an affidavit declaring his/her marital status and willingness to marry an Indian National, duly attested by the concerned authority need to be submitted.

    (3)This service is available only in person at the Consulate. 

    (4)All five individuals i.e. Bride, Bridegroom and three witnesses are required to be physically present and sign before the Consular Officer for registration of the marriage.

List of documents required for registration of marriage:

(1)Completed APPLICATION FOR MARRIAGE REGISTRATION( form) with recent photograph of 2 x 2 inches size (with white background) affixed in the box, for each party. Please bring three extra photographs of each party.

(2.)Original Passports of all the five individuals i.e. Bride and bridegroom, along with the three witnesses, with valid VISA proof, current residence proof (with notarized copies of all documents). VISA is not required for US nationals.

(3.)Original Marriage Certificate issued by the Local Authorities in USA (County/Court) along with a notarized copy.

(4.)Dully filled and signed in Declaration by Bride/Bridegroom (Form-II) and Swon Affidavit (Form-III) in duplicate (two sets).

(5.)Fee US$ 50.00 and US$ 2.00 towards ICWF. Fee can be paid by cashier’s check or money order in favor of Consulate General of India, San Francisco. Please note that Personal checks are not allowed.
