NRI Certificate

ISSUANCE OF NRI CERTIFICATE.

Required documents:

1. Applicants who want NRI Certificate (for SELF), may apply for NRI Certificate with the APPLICATION FORM (click here). The application fee would be USD 25.00 for Consular Fee and USD 2.00 for ICWF, in the form of two separate Money Orders/Cashier’s Check, both in the name of “CONSULATE GENERAL OF INDIA, HOUSTON”.

2. Applicants who want to sponsor someone, are preferred to fill both the APPLICATION FORM (click here) for NRI Certificate and for attestation of NRI Sponsorship Proforma(click here). The application fee would be USD $35.00 for Consular Fee and USD 2.00 for ICWF, in the form of two separate Money Orders/Cashier’s Check, both in the name of “CONSULATE GENERAL OF INDIA, HOUSTON”.

3. Fill in all the information correctly. Incomplete applications will be returned without service.

4. If applications are being sent by postal mail. All copies of supporting documents should be NOTARIZED. If applicants are coming in person to consulate for any Consular services, then there is no need of notarization, but applicants need to bring all original documents.

5. Applicant's valid Original Passport (Indian or USA Passport) and photocopies of pages containing personal particulars (first three and last two pages of passport).

6. Copy of valid USA Visa/Green Card for Indian Passport holders and Copy of OCI Card (First and Last pages of personal information) for USA passport holder of Indian origin.

7. Copy of valid Proof of address (Utility Bill, Driver License or Lease Agreement).

8. All photocopies of required documents must be legible (readable) and clear copies. Blurred/dark/illegible copies may not be accepted.

9. Copy of valid photo identity document of the person to whom you are sponsoring.

10.  A letter explaining the relationship between the sponsoring person and the person whom you are sponsoring, along with the details of the course he/she is going to study.

11.  A letter from the Employee/Bank statements to show the sufficient funds.

12. Cash payment is also accepted at the counter of the Consulate. Applicants are requested to come with exact change for efficient services.

13. Personal checks, Debit cards and Credit cards are not accepted.

14. If the application is sent by postal mail, please send a separate USD 20.00 Cashier’s Check or Money Order for return mail OR include your prepaid envelopes for return mail.
